Former CNN journalist Chris Cillizza revealed on Wednesday that his tesla was protected with a sign reading “Musk is a Nazi”, which someone grabbed the bumper during his son’s football tournament over the weekend.
Cillizza said in his substance that politicization of daily products is “making us crazy” and deepening political division among Americans.
He reflected on the “journey” he has been in the ongoing since the acquisition of his Tesla about five years ago, noting that keeping an electric vehicle once meant “coding himself as an Enviro-Liberal-Wack-Communist”, but is now seen as a symbol of law.
“Five years ago, my Tesla symbolized everything that hated the hated world. But now she symbolizes everything the left hates?” He asked.
“Doesn’t suggest to attribute the meaning in the wrong first place?”
The political commentator expressed the frustration of the politicization of “everything” in recent years, referring to the reaction he received after visiting Chick-Fil, where some of his followers accused him of supporting the causes of anti-LGBTQ.
“I didn’t eat it because I wanted to send a message to gay people,” Cillizza claimed.
“I ate it because it was delicious.”
He also dismissed the idea that being the protector of a company equates to the approval of her policy, an argument usually made by critics of figures like Elon Musk.
“If your bar is that you never interact with or buy anything from a company whose founder has taken a position with which you disagree or donated a cause you do not support, I find it very difficult to believe you will ever make any purchases,” Cillizza wrote.
“Breaking news: Giant corporations tend to do what makes them more money, not always what is right.” “
Closing his thoughts on the incident, Cillizza warned against “the obsession to do every little of our lives in a political statement”, stating that “is further pushing us from any knowledge of our common humanity”.
