Urgent warning to iPhone owners to install iOS 18.5 now: ‘users must act’

Data experts are asking iPhone users to install new IOS 18.5 update, which includes an adjustment to prevent hackers from gaining access to personal content.

According to The Mirror, Apple has admitted that the latest software update corrects an important security gap that can potentially allow hackers to get into personal data such as photos, messages and application information.

“Apple acted quickly, but users have to act as well. Updating your device is one of the most important things you can do to protect your private information,” said one representative from Safe Storage.

“Tell your parents, your grandparents, your neighbor – whoever with an iPhone. These updates are no longer optional – they are your first line of protection.”

The latest software fixation, which is compatible with the iPhone XS models and later, deals with a weakness that includes “processing a malicious work image [that] can lead to the sudden completion of the application or corrupt process memory, “according to Apple.

Apple claimed to resolve the issue by implementing “improved entry sanitization” and prompted IOS 18.5 “to include important security adjustments and recommended for all users”.

There are no reports for users to be manipulated so far, but security experts note that these types of weaknesses tend to be targeted and misused as they are more widely recognized.

“Many people assume that iPhones are immune to serious threats, but no device is immune to a weakness like this,” explained Safe Storage Storage. “If someone sends you a seemingly innocent image and your phone has not been updated, he can quietly make destruction or give interference access to your private files.”

Those who have an iPhone XS or later are required to update their phones as soon as possible and provide assistance to elders or users who are not so knowledgeable about technology.

“The longer one delays the update, the longer they leave that door open,” warned Safe Storage Storage. “And many people-especially grandparents or less technology-do not understand how important these updates are.”

Saiding secure data also provided some simple steps to take to improve your iPhone daily safety:

• Disable messages of messaging on the block screen: This prevents sensitive messages from being seen when your phone is unattended. To change this, go to Settings> Announcements> Messages> Show Observations, Never set it.
• Activate two -factor certificate for Apple ID: This provides extra security and protection, even if someone else has your password. To do this, go to settings> [your name] > Password and safety, activate two -factor certificate.
• Limit the app access to personal data: Many applications require access to contacts, photos or locations without being a request. To change this, go to settings> intimacy and safety, then look at each section and change the permits when needed.
