Fox News Howard Kurtz hosted the CBS Scott Pelley’s journalist for a fiery address of the “60 minutes” correspondent submitted to Wake Forest University, criticizing him as a partisan broadside as a graduation speech.
During his “Mediabuzz” program on Sunday, Kurtz called Pelley for what he described as a “harsh rhetorical attack” on President Donald Trump, given to an audience of students and their families.
“I just think it’s extremely inappropriate to use a starting address to say such things,” Kurtz said.
Kurtz argued that the speech was not only abroad, but also the emblematic of a broader ideological slope on CBS News.

Pelley, a match in “60 minutes” since 1999, was not held again at his May 19 address in the Wake Forest graduation class. He warned of what he described as an increase in fear and oppression in American public life, linking the climate directly to the Trump era politics.
“This morning our sacred rule of law is under attack,” Pelley told the crowd.
“Journalism is under attack, universities are under attack, freedom of speech is under attack and secret fear is reaching out to schools, our businesses, our homes and in our private thoughts.”
He went on: “Fear of speaking – in America? If our government is, in Lincoln’s phrase,” people, from people, for people, “then we are afraid to speak? Ignorance works for power. Power can change the definition of words we used to describe reality. This is an old game of my games.
Pelley’s comprehensive address, which withdrew applause from some in the crowd, was dismissed by online critics of being overwhelmed and politically accused.
A social media user slammed the veteran’s anchor for “rage at Trump at an address of angry and indecent anger”, while another called him “a self-important, preacher propagandist”.
Conservative commentator Juanita Broaddrick, who has long accused former President Bill Clinton of raping, tagged peley “a pompous position” in response to the speech.

Pelley and CBS News have not publicly responded to criticism.
