Former First Lady Michelle Obama is leaving a book seeing her favorite moments of fashion and style over the years.
Obama said she wanted to write the beauty book, entitled “View”, to “restore” her story after her footage was examined during her time in the White House.
“During our family time in the White House, the way I looked was constantly dissecting – what I was wearing, how my hair was styled,” she wrote in an Instagram announcement.
“For a while now, I have been wanting to recover more that story, to share it in my own way. I am grateful to be in a phase of life, where I feel comfortable expressing it freely – wearing what I want and doing what it feels true to me. And I am excited to share some of what I learned along the way,” she added.
The $ 50 book, which will be released on November 4, features more than 200 pictures of the former first lady, including images never published before, according to publisher Crown Publishing Group.
Obama said the book would give readers a back-to-scenes look at its most memorable appearance and the significant moments that accompanied them. He will also introduce readers to her style team from over the years.
“The appearance is about more than fashion. It is about faith. It is about identity. It is about the power of authenticity,” Obama said in its announcement on social media. “My hope is for this book to cause conversation and reflection on the ways we see ourselves – and the way our society determines beauty.”
Obama has previously spoken about her style while examining during her time in the White House.
During the book tour for her 2022 book, “The Light we hold”, Obama revealed that she straightened her hair while her husband Barack Obama was in office because she did not feel the Americans were ready to accept her natural hair.
The American people were “just being arranged” to have a black president and were not “ready” to see the first lady’s hair in braids, she believed, according to a report in the Washington Post.
“Let me keep my hair straight,” Obama said about her thoughts at the time. “Let’s pass health care.”
